It’s no secret that the team over at Geisthaus brewing makes some scary good lagers. Recently they came to pay us a visit, and we put our heads together to tackle one of the classics; the Export Lager. Somewhat like an amplified Helles lager, this beer features rich yet clean malt profile, balanced bitterness, slightly elevated ABV, and a delicate palate-cleansing minerality.

Whether tackling a classic style or something totally outside the box, we always endeavor to follow the “Rule Zero” of brewing, as we see it: no matter the style, always make something which is delicious, intriguing, and a pleasure to drink. To make this one a little extra special we chose to lay the foundation with CA-grown barley from Admiral Maltings for an ultra-fresh malt character. Some classic German hops and yeast, and a carefully-tuned water profile then join up, forming quite the well-rounded party.
